On behalf of the entire members of staff of the Department of Kinesiology, Health Education and Recreation, I have the pleasure to welcome you to this great Department. The research and learning activities of the Department focus on analysis of human performance, movement education, improvement of physical fitness and attainment and maintenance of optimal health status of individuals through physical activity programmes and development of sport management skills to produce highly efficient sportsmen/sportswomen and sports administrators.

The academic programmes in the Department are designed to produce highly competent teachers, coaches and sports’ administrators who are capable of implementing sports education programmes in secondary schools, Colleges of Education, universities and other public and private sport establishments; train effective leaders in education, health and sports sectors in Nigeria; promote research and pursue postgraduate works in different areas of specializations in the Department. These areas are Adapted Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, Health Education, Sports Administration, Sports Psychology, Recreation andMotor Control and Learning.

For personal health improvement, the Department offers ample opportunities for members of the community to recreate develop skills for active lifestyle and learn about meaningful ways to spend leisure including dance and tourism.
